Hello - I'm Debbie Horton! As the only woman who ever played lead guitar for Johnny Cash, I had an incredible privilege of knowing the man, the myth, and the legend—both on and off the stage. I knew Johnny over 20 years and this gave me unparalleled insights into his life. I've continued to keep his legacy alive through various projects after his passing. Fast forward to 2023/24, and I found myself handpicked by Johnny's own son, John Carter, to be the lead guitarist for the national tour of The Official Johnny Cash Concert Experience. It was an honor beyond words. In the photos in the slide show above, you're given a glimpse into my time with Johnny down through the years - from being invited to his beautiful home to getting exclusive, behind-the-scenes access that most fans could only dream about.
